Gratitude is a Practice: not a date
A reminder to notice what’s already good.
For those who celebrate, this week was Thanksgiving in the USA. While it’s a day steeped in tradition - and controversy - I often wonder why do we reserve one day to express gratitude?
Gratitude isn’t meant to be confined to a date on the calendar. It’s a practice, a way of being. Each day offers moments that invite us to pause and notice what nourishes us.
Too often, we fixate on what’s missing—what we still want, what feels out of reach. But when we turn our attention toward what is—a kindness, a color in the sky, a simple joy—we remember that goodness is always near.
One of my favorite rituals is keeping a gratitude jar. Each time something makes me smile or fills me with appreciation, I drop a note inside. On hard days, I pull one out to remind myself that everything is temporary—and that beauty continues, quietly, around me.
